The Austrian Serbian Economic Forum took place on Jahorina, a three-day event that brought together more than thirty Austrian business people interested in investing in the economic, energy and tourism potential of Republika Srpska.

A series of presentations and lectures set out investment opportunities, while in the afternoon the participants visited Jahorina and received a detailed presentation on its capacities and future development plans.

Among the participants in the Forum were representatives of the Investment and Development Bank of Republika Srpska, of the Motorways of Republika Srpska and of the Tourism Organisation of Republika Srpska, as well as numerous business people and representatives of institutions. The event offered an excellent opportunity to conclude concrete business agreements and to strengthen economic cooperation between Austrian and Serbian companies.

Mr Mag. Mladen Filipović, Head of the Representation of Republika Srpska in Austria, stressed that the Forum focuses on companies with concrete projects in the fields of energy, tourism, construction and manufacturing industry, as well as on consulting firms that develop tourism destinations.

The guests also included Dr Andrea Kdolski, former Austrian Federal Minister of Health and Youth and currently the owner of a consulting firm. She works actively with the Representation of Republika Srpska in Austria in order to strengthen the healthcare sector in Republika Srpska.

“I see many young people who want to contribute to the progress of Republika Srpska, and that is of great importance. Their energy is decisive for realising shared visions, not only in politics but also in the economy. I am impressed by the capacities that Jahorina offers, and I would like to contribute to its further development – including medical and similar services that will be available to visitors,” said Dr Kdolski.

The Austrian Serbian Economic Forum took place from 19 to 21 February and represents a further significant step towards strengthening economic relations between Republika Srpska and Austria. Numerous meetings and discussions opened up new investment opportunities, and the Austrian business people had the chance to familiarise themselves with the advantages of doing business in Republika Srpska.

On the final day of the Forum, bilateral meetings were held between Austrian and Serbian companies, which made it possible to give the cooperation concrete form and potentially to launch new investment projects.

This event confirms the continuous development of economic relations between Republika Srpska and Austria and creates the basis for new investments that will contribute to economic growth and the creation of new jobs.
