Knowledge-based services are the area in which the economic ties between Austria and Serbia have changed fastest in recent years.

Serbia has a pronounced IT and services scene with a high level of professional qualification and good links to European clients. For Austrian companies this matters as a nearshoring option, as a development location and increasingly as a source of skilled workers in a tight labour market.

Conversely, Serbian service providers are looking for access to clients in the EU — and for the standing that comes with clients familiar with European procurement and data protection requirements.
