Accessibility

Our aim

We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at conformance level AA. Accessibility is not an afterthought here: it has been part of the design and the technology of this website from the outset.

What is already in place

• Contrast: All text and surface combinations meet at least WCAG AA; most body-text pairings reach AAA.
• Keyboard operation: All functions — including the mega menus, the tab section, the search dialogue and the forms — can be operated entirely with the keyboard.
• Visible focus: The element currently in focus is always clearly visible, including on dark surfaces.
• Skip link: At the top of the page a link leads straight to the main content and skips the navigation.
• Semantic markup: Heading hierarchy, landmarks and lists are correctly marked up and can be followed by screen readers.
• Alternative text: Content images carry descriptive alternative text; purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
• Reduced motion: If “reduce motion” is set in the operating system, animations and smooth scrolling are switched off.
• Forms: Every field has an associated label; errors are shown at the field itself and as a status message.
• Scalability: The page remains fully usable at 200% zoom; there is no horizontal scrolling.

Known limitations

• The hero video currently has no audio description. It is silent and purely decorative; all the information is also given as text alongside it.
• A few sections that have not been filled in yet are marked as placeholders and will be completed as the content is finalised.
• The PDF documents provided were produced externally and are not consistently tagged for accessibility.
